ClassWise:  Synchronous Internet Desktop Education

J. Mark Pullen and Michael Benson

We have captured multimedia files from an actual online class at George Mason University (GMU) presented by the first author on June 9, 1998. The class was "Transport Layer Protocols" from the course "Wide Area Network Protocols" within Network Science I, part of GMU's professional education program. The portion included here deals with the connection phase within the protocol TCP.

The method of capture involved converting the Internet audio and graphics, as received by the whiteboard of a ClassWise client, to compressed audio and image files which are then presented using JavaScript and HTML. The resulting files can be played from this page via a web browser that supports JavaScript and embedded audio in .wav format.

Please note: This presentation includes an audio component.
