There is a demonstration basic server (see below) for course DEMO running on
netlab.gmu.edu.
One of the shortcuts in the NEW
client is set up to use this server. Accounts guest1, guest2, and
guest3 are available. The password for each of these accounts is the same as the
user name. This client uses a simple logon screen in place of the more
sophisticated system of web pages we use for multiple courses at GMU.
More DEMO download and installation information.
NOTE: To use the client with a different server, edit the
server hostname as indicted in the .nwc file comments.
Change netlab.gmu.edu to your own server host name
(but only in the places indicated).
These software downloads are self-extracting zip (.exe) or gzipped tar files. The basic release will
self-extract into
C:\Program Files\NEW-SERVER\.
Unzip and untar the UNIX/Linux Web managed release into usr/local/.
When the File Download dialog box appears, click on
"Save", not "Open". The Web managed server works with
the Course Management pages and a database. The basic server serves only one
course or conference and usually authenticates via a text file.
More SERVER download and installation information.

The NETLAB DEMO server is running at all times, so you can try out
NEW
by simply downloading the demonstration client (see link under CLIENT above) and
clicking on the desktop shortcut NEW DEMO.
NOTE: These servers are configured to match the clients above. Look under
the Server Release column to find the matching client for each server. The basic servers use a flat
file for user authentication, but the Web managed ones use a MYSQL database instead.
Instructions are contained in the installation package.
These software downloads are zip or tar files. Save them to a temporary
location and unzip or untar them into
C:\Program Files\.....
When the File Download dialog box appears, click on
"Save", not "Open".
More WEB PAGES download and installation information.
NOTE: In order for NEW to work
properly, the course management release number must match the server release number.
