Title of proposed project:	Performance evaluation of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) in the context of Quality of Service (QoS) for Web Services and other types of traffic flows.

Problem to Solve:	IPv6 brings several new opportunities as well as challenges. Web Services is gaining momentum in the industry, with its own set of opportunities and challenges. The workload pattern for Web Services has been modelled, but how these models hold up with scaling needs more study. The measure of Quality of Service for Web Services is a good approach to study the scaling issues, when they co-exist along with other types of traffic flows such as Streaming media, Real-time, Interactive and File transfers. How all this is impacted in IPv6 will be the focus of this project. The methodology to be used will be primarily simulation, the simulation tool to be used would be commercial over the counter software -- QualNet. QualNet supports IPv6 and QoS models, and claims capability in scaling up to 3500 nodes in real time simulation. QualNet also supports Mobile Networks, WiMAX and Military applications.
